Gracie's was founded in 1976 at Apache and River for the primary purpose of raising funds for women's ministry at Grace Community Church. It was moved to a former FURNITURE STORE at Apache and Una-Butte in 1979.
In June 2012 the City of Tempe approved a project to replace the Gracie's Thrift Store building with a three story building; the thrift
These apartments will be “affordable workforce housing.” To qualify a family needs to earn 40% to 60% of the median household income for a family of that size in Tempe. This should open in the fall of 2013.
The former building, at 1520 E. Apache, has been demolished and new construction is proceeding on schedule. Last September we moved one block west to the Apache Central Center (Food City Center). We will return to our brand new site in Fall 2013.
Our retail store is at 1332 E. Apache and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM. The donation center is two doors west at 1328 E. Apache and accepts donations Monday through Saturday from 10:30 to 4:30 (extended hours only as staff are available.)
