Five Resources Regarding Gender

Posted on with 1 Comments

This past Sunday we talked about what it means that God created us "male and female" (Genesis 1:26-27). Below are some resources that may be helpful for those of us in the congregation who want to begin to understand Gender Dysphoria in a more robust way. None of these are brief, but rather they each will require work and patience to engage.

Gender Dysphoria is complicated and the topic should be approached with humility as we seek to understand. If you or someone you know is battling gender dysphoria, we hope that nobody would ever have to process this alone. Our pastors and licensed counseling ministry would love to come alongside you, hear your story, and do what we can to help you bear your burden (Galatians 6:2). To set up an appointment, please call our Counseling Center at (480) 829-0130.

  1. Understanding Gender Dysphoria: Navigating Transgender Issues in a Changing Culture - by Mark Yarhouse, Psy.D.
  2. Gender Dysphoria: A Pastoral Letter - Steven Froehlich, D.Min.
  3. We Cannot Be Silent - Albert Mohler, Jr., Ph.D.
  4. Sex Without Bodies - Andy Crouch
  5. The Christian Response to Gender Dysphoria - Andrew T. Walker, Ph.D.

Let us proceed as listeners, with a humble posture (James 1:19). "Every one of us is a member of the coalition of human beings who feel out of place in our bodies east of Eden" (Andy Crouch).

These resources are helpful. I am given a better understanding of how I might need to be as a safe person while I am immersed in a field where gender dysphoria is commonly seen. Thank you for sharing these! Also, thank you for making a difference in our lives during the time you have been at Grace!
